Senior Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis

Position Overview:

The Senior Manager FP&A will be a finance business partner focused on supporting the company’s financial forecasts, annual budgeting process, operating plan variance analysis, and monthly/quarterly accounting close execution with specific focus on clinical and CMC operations. S/he will provide financial consulting and strategic support to senior management including contributing to board presentations, financial presentations, clinical expenditure analysis, and other projects as needed. The position reports to the head of Financial Planning & Analysis, will work closely with the CFO, Controller, SVP of Clinical Operations, and clinical and CMC operational teams. The individual must be a highly motivated, proactive and collegial professional, comfortable working with all levels of the organization.  Furthermore, the role requires flexibility and autonomy to become a true business partner to the with specific focus on clinical and CMC operations. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordination and development of financial operating plans, budgets and forecasts for various departments, with specific focus on Clinical Operations and Clinical Development
  • Provides decision and analytic support to business partners, conducts “what if” and scenario modeling
  • Collaborates with clinical operations leadership, CROs, and accounting colleagues to ensure accurate preparation of monthly expense accruals
  • Works with program management to quickly understand any changes in program plans and the impact on the financial forecasts/budgets for each program and project
  • Prepares and presents financial plans and presentations to department heads and executive leadership
  • Prepares financial reports and analysis, identifies opportunities for enhancement and works collaboratively with business and finance team members to implement
  • Assists with purchase order process, including requisitions, coding, review and approval
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing conditions and different cultures
  • Strong customer service focus, with a drive to ensure that we exceed the expectations of our customers
  • Leads special projects and analysis as required

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA highly desirable.
  • 8 – 10 years Financial Planning and Analysis experience or equivalent
  • Biotech or life sciences industry experience required – preferably in small Biotech environment
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • NetSuite experience a plus.
  • Advanced analytic and modeling skills
